Until now, our service relied on standalone GPS devices that we send to organizers so they can distribute them before the race and collect them at the finish.

That model remains an excellent solution for many events and formats. But we know some races need to reach further, cover more participants, or reduce logistics effort and cost per user.

With wiamapp, wiamsports evolves to fit that scenario too.

Participants can now become part of the tracking system using their own smartphones, without giving up quality, reliability, or integration with the rest of the event.

The same philosophy, more scalability

wiamapp was not created as a separate system, but as a natural extension of wiamsports.

That means a single event can combine GPS devices and the mobile app in a consistent way, depending on the needs of each race format, route, or participant profile.

For example, an organizer can keep using GPS devices in the main race while deploying wiamapp in shorter distances or categories with a larger number of registrations. All of it works under the same tracking logic and within the same service.

The result is clear: more flexibility for the organizer, broader reach for the event, and a consistent experience for everyone.
